We allow students to follow a curriculum that suits their needs and interests whilst preparing them for post 16 education, employment or training.
Key Stage 3 Curriculum
All students in key stage 3 will study English, Maths, Science, PSHE, PE and Life Skills (including Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance).
Students also choose to study a range of vocational options to suit their level of interest and enable them to experience a taster of the skills early on that can enable a smooth transition to Key stage 4 and a wider choice of post 16 destinations opportunities in the future. Some Key Stage 3 learning occurs through a project based approach.
Vocational courses include:
- Motor Vehicle Engineering
- Hair and Beauty
- Child Care
- Outdoor and Adventurous Activities
Some students have a more bespoke curriculum and may access extended work placements or external provision if we feel more options are required to tailor the curriculum more specifically.
Key Stage 4 Curriculum
At Key Stage 4, all students study English, Maths and Science, PSHE, CEIAG (Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance) and PE.
As per the Key Stage 3 curriculum, students can opt for vocational study (3 options).
As students are assessed and progress against baseline assessments is established, decisions about the route to post 16 provision are made and the most appropriate qualifications followed.
